Legal Paper Size

Legal is a common American inch-based loose size. This size is different from ISO 216 international standards commonly used in other parts of the world, and this standard is mainly used in the United States, Canada, and the philippines. In the US loose size, Letter, Legal and Ledger / Tabloid are the most commonly used for everyday activities. The width of the Legal paper is 216mm(8.5 inches) and the height is 356mm(14 inches).

Taking our commonly used credit cards as a reference, the size of the credit card is 85.6 mm x 53.98 mm (3.4 in X 2.1 in). The paper size of Legal format is approximately 2.5 times the width of the credit card and approximately 6.6 times the height of the credit card.

ANSI Standard Paper Sizes

In 1992, ANSI / ASME Y14.1 adopted by the National Standard Association, De Facto Standard 8 ¹/₂ in × 11 in "Letter", defined a series of paper sizes, and named "ANSI A", The series of paper sizes and ISO 216 international standards are similar, which will be cut into two halves will generate two next smaller sized paper.

Architectural Paper Sizes

In the ANSI / ASME Y14.1 standard adopted by the National Standards Association, a series of paper sizes for architectural purposes are also defined. The size of this series is mainly used by architects, because the paper in this series is 4: 3 and 3: 2, this is the ratio of small integers.
